Introduction to Economic Development in Cork City Council

Cork City Council provides a range of direct services to business in Cork.  It also facilitates a range of initiatives which support and enhance economic activity within the city.  Cork City is the economic driver for the region and Cork City Council works closely with other stakeholders that contribute to economic development in the city and seeks to add value to their efforts.

We are Cork - A new Place Brand to promote the power and people of Cork

We are Cork optimised

Cork is redefining how it tells its story; through the power of people and place, we are harnessing our strengths and seizing new opportunities.  We are Cork is a partnership that brings together all the stakeholders of the Cork Region under one brand. This  new brand for Cork will help us tell the big picture of who we are and why we are a great place to live, work, study, visit, invest and do business in.

We live in a globalised world where stiff competition exists to attract investment, visitors, talented people and international students across Europe and globally.  Cork has a strong record in this field - but if we are to continue to grow and prosper we need to redouble our efforts to tell the Cork story.  Many organisations already market Cork.  However by coming together to agree consistent messages we can maximise our effectiveness in telling the Cork story.

We are Cork tells our story - the story of our city and county and its passionate, talented people through the fabulour stories and images of "Cork Can".  Through the authentic stories of people who live, work, sutdy, invest and do business here "We are Cork" will amplify to the world all that is good about Cork.

Our part in the development of the Cork Placebrand.

Cork City Council and Cork County Council have jointly led the development of the new Cork Place Brand, in cooperation with a wide range of stakeholders including UCC, CIT, Cork Airport, Port of Cork, Cork Chamber, Cork Business Association, Ibec, IDA Ireland, Enterprise Ireland, Failte Ireland and Visit Cork.  We are excited about how we can harness it to continually inform local, national and international audiences of the power of Cork.  But the brand doesn't just belong to those stakeholders - now it’s over to everyone to shape Cork’s future with confidence and clarity.  To find out more visit
